What’s On in Dublin this October

Dublin has a packed events schedule for this October, so you’ve a great excuse to pop in for a pre-Theatre / Early Bird dinner in Whitefriar Grill.

Ruth Negga is Hamlet at The Gate to the 27th October

Oscar-nominated Irish actress, Ruth Negga, makes her Gate stage debut in the title role of Hamlet, joined by a cast of Ireland’s finest actors. Award-winning director Yaël Farber heads an exciting creative team including Tony award-winning set and costume designer Susan Hilferty, lighting designer Paul Keogan and composer Tom Lane. More Here


Tom Crean – Antarctic Explorer returns to The Gaiety 15th to 20th October

Crean’s story is a testament of human fortitude against all the elements of the Antarctic, his 36 mile, solitary trek to base camp during the Terra Nova expedition to rescue his comrades Teddy Evans and William Lashly has been described by Antarctic historians as “the finest feat of individual heroism from the entire age of exploration”. He was subsequently awarded the Albert Medal for his bravery. More Here


Echo and The Bunnymen at at The Olympia on Friday October 12th

The new Echo & the Bunnymen studio album, The Stars, The Oceans & The Moon will be released on October 5th. As previously revealed, this album sees the band return to their peerless back catalogue to reinterpret thirteen of their most beloved songs with ‘strings and things’. The album also features two future classics – The Somnanbulist and How Far? Recorded at The Dog House Studios with co-producer Andy Wright, the Bunnymen hand-picked the selection of tracks for the album from their majestic, four-decade spanning archive. Mac said of the new versions: “I’m not doing this for anyone else. I’m doing it as it’s important to me to make the songs better. I have to do it.” More Here


Billy Ocean is at Vicar Street on Friday October 12th.


This year was another fantastic year for Billy releasing his “Here You Are” album and playing shows in Dubai, USA, Canada, Spain, Mozambique, Denmark, Holland, Belgium, Germany and even Luxumbourg. Billy has also started work on his next album to be released in 2018! More Here
